Eyebrow Tinting

eyebrow-tinting-virginiaEyebrow tinting? Is that a thing? Considering how many of us dye our hair in an attempt to avoid that salt and pepper look, it shouldn’t be a surprise that eyebrow tinting is a very real cosmetic treatment.

Why Eyebrow Tint?

What’s the aim? Well, first off, if you’re one of those individuals who does dye their hair, then eyebrow tinting is a good way to make sure the lightness of your brows matches the color of your hair.

And there are a number of other reasons as well. Maybe your eyebrows are greying out — which can be a dead giveaway of age. Maybe you just want thicker looking eyebrows. Tinting the eyebrows can give your brow a shapely and attractive appearance.

Or maybe you just want to reframe your face. Thick and defined eyebrows give contrast to the face — that adds definition and gives a stronger sense of eyebrow symmetry.

The Eyebrow Tinting Process

When you go to get your eyebrows tinted, the cosmetologist or aesthetician will make sure to help you choose the right shade to match your cosmetic needs. A good rule of thumb is to keep the tint of your eyebrows within one or two shades lighter or darker than the color of your hair.

During the actual eyebrow tinting, the aesthetician rubs vaseline around the area of treatment in order to not stain the skin. Then the tint is applied inside out, from one corner of the eyebrow to the other corner. Overall, the process takes under half an hour.

The tint will last you 6 to 8 weeks — a length classified as a semi-permanent procedure. This is due to the length of the eyebrow cycle, where the eyebrow hairs all fall out within that time.
