Mid Facelift

When you look in the mirror, do you wonder what happened to the face of your youth? As we age, we begin to lose those high cheekbones that were once so attractive. Gravity and time are the culprits behind a drooping mid-face region.

If this sounds familiar, you may be a good candidate for a mid facelift. This procedure is growing in popularity as people look for less invasive alternatives to traditional facelifts.

What Can I Expect?

After a mid-facelift, you can expect to have a more youthful and balanced facial appearance. Dr. Karen favors a natural result.

Through a small incision under the eye and an incision in the mouth above the teeth, the middle of your face is elevated to mobilize your cheek. A small absorbable implant is then used to secure the tissue in your desired facial location, recreating that natural high cheek region.

The side effects are the same as those of a traditional facelift—swelling, bruising, inflammation and some pain. In rare cases, there might be nerve damage, and occasionally a second procedure is needed to make corrections to treated areas.

Guidelines for After Surgery

Patients need to take prescribed medications, sleep with their heads elevated, and apply ice to the mid face for the first 24 to 48 hours. Sutures will be removed in five to seven days. Heavy lifting and strains should be avoided for two weeks. In general, patients go back to work within a week.

Is This Right for Me?

Every person is different. The best way to find out if this procedure is right for you is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Karen.
