PROCEDURE DESCRIPTION

Dr. Karen now offers an advanced technique of tightening skin that uses a unique form of radio frequency energy to tighten loose or sagging skin, producing a firming and contouring of the skin without an incision, puncture or a “traditional” recovery time. We now offer Thermage for the body! It melts the fat and reduces volume instantly! We can also do cellulite! It could be a “lunch time” activity. You can go out and resume normal activity without any sign you had “something” done except maybe a slight “pinkness” as if you were out on a sunny day.

The technique is called Thermage™. The radio frequency (RF) energy uniformly heats the dermis (inner layer of skin) to affect the collagen, while cooling and protecting the epidermis (outer layer of skin). It is designed to tighten skin while stimulating existing collagen fibers to tighten and initiate an increase in production of new collagen over an extended period of time, greatly reducing wrinkles and laxity. Each time the tip is applied there is an immediate cool sensation, followed by a brief hot sensation, followed by a second cool sensation. Depending on the size of the area treated, most procedures may take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour. The treatment is most effective on skin that, through the passage of time, sun exposure, and the body’s natural aging, has lost some of the supporting collagen and remaining collagen has thinned and stretched. The body shows the external side of the internal aging processes as lines and wrinkles and skin laxity. The tightening and stimulation of these collagen fibers will re-support the layers of the skin, raising the skin surface, thereby reducing one of the leading causes of wrinkled skin.
