Dr. Matthew Karen, ABFPRS Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Matthew Karen Board Certified facial plastic surgeon has recertified and completed the maintenance of certificate infacial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Every ten years a physician needs to recertify in there given specialty, according to the American Board of Medical Specialties. Dr Karen decided to recertify 1 year early and now we be a board certified FPS until 2023. He is also Board certified in Otolaryngology. (ENT)

The process of recertification is rigorous and requires a surgeon to document his surgical case load over the current year and support his training and experience by obtaining letters of recommendation as well as verifying his continuing medical education. Once that is completed the applicant must take a written and oral examination. Dr. Karen completed this in June and was notified this September of his recertification.

He is now able to refer to himself as a Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon that holds proper licensure and subscribes to the ABFPRS code of ethics.
